Collecting & Analyzing Twitter data – an Introduction

Viktoria presented a workshop on how to extract Twitter data, including:

• Ways to access data: the Streaming API (real time) and REST API (historical search)
• Archives of Twitter data and useful tools
• Data contained in a single tweet
• Programming! - Python 2.7, Anaconda (python packages), and Spyder (IDE)
• Geo-location processing (GeoJSON, QGIS, Leaflet)
